Hello all…. Its been awhile… I am so bad at keeping up with this blog… But I am doing my best so bear with me….
The girls had a blast this Halloween… the girls performed at the Embassy Suites on Halloween Night… They gave candy to the audience and got some yummy treats too! It was fun…
There was a Costume contest sponsored by KWAV and Bo-pah won 1st place as Jimi Hendrix… Kariel won 3rd place as Cruella de-ville
So, there is a lot going on… I hope all of you stay tuned and keep your eyes and ears open for some fun stuff happening in 2009 with the Sledge Grits band….
We are going to be doing some traveling and some other exciting things… we are in the process of taking a few months of slow time to catch up on some song writing. The girls have many more originals that need some attention, and we are hoping that the holiday season will be a good time to work on them.
Well, thanks for your patience while I get caught up on things…
Mimi and Kariel… Mimi on vocals, Kariel on bass at a Fall Festival at the Barnyard in Carmel… They are performing with the Dennis Murphy band… Kariel is dressed as Cruella… Mimi is a pumpkin… Boogie oogie oogie by Taste of Honey…. A little blast from the past disco video for you all…
Trackstock in Salinas, Ca is done and over… The girls had a show at Kidfest right before, then we rushed over do a couple of songs with Override, who went on first. They did an amazing job. They are definitely a band to keep an eye on. Mimi sang Barracuda and The Ocean with them and Keiko did two of their originals with them. The girls had a blast performing with Override. Thanks guys for sharing your stage…
Then came our set. All I can say is that we had an off day… We had some issues. The girls were disappointed in how it turned out. But, all in all, they had a good time. We learn something new everytime they perform. So, it was an experience worth having….
Thank you to Trackstock and Wise music in Salinas… And all the bands and people who put the show together…
I’ll leave you with a video of Mimi singing with Override…
Last night the Sledge Grits band performed at the Oldemeyer Center in Seaside. They had a blast! The band was the opening act for the world reknowned blues artist Coco Montoya. He was amazing! Not only was he an amazing musician he was a great person. He spoke with the girls and took pictures with them and brought them on stage.
This first song is an original song “Why” That was written by Momma Sledge… But, arranged by Keiko.
The Show itself was so fun… There was a great crowd and the support for the girls was wonderful! The sound was amazing… (My camera doesn’t do the sound people justice….) It was a great night.
Thank you to the City of Seaside… The Monterey Bay Blues Festival…. Dennis Murphy…. Magic 63…. Coco Montoya… the sound people…. and everyone who came out to show support…..
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!
This next song is “invincible” written by Kariel and arranged by Keiko….
Wanted to share this with you all. The Girls recorded it in a couple of hours about a week ago. I thought a picture show would be a fun way to “show” this song. Hope you like it.
The fair was extremely fun this year. We went for 3 different days. The first day was the KWAV kids talent search where Keiko went out and won first place! She had such a fun time up there on the stage and it really showed. We also got to see Charlie Musselwhite and his amazing blues band. It was fun hanging out with Dennis Murphy and enjoying the music. For the second day we went to see Lee Durley and the Magic 63 All Star Band. They were great! (Fredo of Jammin 97 with Keiko and Mimi)
The 3rd day we went and just walked around and enjoyed the day. The girls got to get up and do some karaoke. Keiko and Mimi took over the mic and did quite a few songs. The DJ asked for Mimi to pick out quite a few songs because she was bringing crowds in when she sang. So, she did… and we were there for awhile. We had a great time. We are having a wonderful summer! Things are good…..
I have been sadly neglecting this blog for awhile. I am hoping to back up and on track.
The girls have been having an amazing summer. They are growing so much everyday! It is amazing to watch how much their music skills develop on a daily basis. We are all enjoying this time sooooooo much! Just watching them and seeing them soak all of it in. We have been so blessed to have so many people who are mentoring the girls and helping them navigate the stages and equipment etc… They are getting an amazing education on all aspects of the business.
Well, I am going to try to go back and add some other of our summer activities into the blog. (To keep you all updated and in the loop:)
Sorry again to all of you who have asked for me to get this updated. Things have been a bit hectic this summer! Talk to you soon!
