Last night the Sledge Grits band performed at the Oldemeyer Center in Seaside. They had a blast! The band was the opening act for the world reknowned blues artist Coco Montoya. He was amazing! Not only was he an amazing musician he was a great person. He spoke with the girls and took pictures with them and brought them on stage.
This first song is an original song “Why” That was written by Momma Sledge… But, arranged by Keiko.
The Show itself was so fun… There was a great crowd and the support for the girls was wonderful! The sound was amazing… (My camera doesn’t do the sound people justice….) It was a great night.
Thank you to the City of Seaside… The Monterey Bay Blues Festival…. Dennis Murphy…. Magic 63…. Coco Montoya… the sound people…. and everyone who came out to show support…..
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!
This next song is “invincible” written by Kariel and arranged by Keiko….
Wanted to share this with you all. The Girls recorded it in a couple of hours about a week ago. I thought a picture show would be a fun way to “show” this song. Hope you like it.
The fair was extremely fun this year. We went for 3 different days. The first day was the KWAV kids talent search where Keiko went out and won first place! She had such a fun time up there on the stage and it really showed. We also got to see Charlie Musselwhite and his amazing blues band. It was fun hanging out with Dennis Murphy and enjoying the music. For the second day we went to see Lee Durley and the Magic 63 All Star Band. They were great! (Fredo of Jammin 97 with Keiko and Mimi)
The 3rd day we went and just walked around and enjoyed the day. The girls got to get up and do some karaoke. Keiko and Mimi took over the mic and did quite a few songs. The DJ asked for Mimi to pick out quite a few songs because she was bringing crowds in when she sang. So, she did… and we were there for awhile. We had a great time. We are having a wonderful summer! Things are good…..
I have been sadly neglecting this blog for awhile. I am hoping to back up and on track.
The girls have been having an amazing summer. They are growing so much everyday! It is amazing to watch how much their music skills develop on a daily basis. We are all enjoying this time sooooooo much! Just watching them and seeing them soak all of it in. We have been so blessed to have so many people who are mentoring the girls and helping them navigate the stages and equipment etc… They are getting an amazing education on all aspects of the business.
Well, I am going to try to go back and add some other of our summer activities into the blog. (To keep you all updated and in the loop:)
Sorry again to all of you who have asked for me to get this updated. Things have been a bit hectic this summer! Talk to you soon!
Thank you to all who showed up in Seaside for the Summer Sunset Festival. The girls had a blast. It was a short set and it went by very quickly. Thank you to Magic 63, Kwav, Lee Durley, Dennis Murphy, Gary Machado, and of course the City of Seaside. We are blessed to have such wonderful support around us! Thanks again everyone!
The Amazing Pete Escovido and The Sledge Grits Band
The teen Talent Extravaganza was a fun event. The girls had a blast! Kariel performed an acoustic version of Simple Man, by Lynrd Skynrd. Keiko, an acoustic version of Our Song, by Taylor Swift.
Thank you all for coming out and supporting the girls!
The girls performed at 231 Main Street in Salinas on friday… The show itself was very good. The girls had a great time. Besides having to keep their amps set to 1! Their hard work is definately paying off. Their sound is good, their set list is full, and they are enjoying themselves immensely! Thank you Tammy for bringing the professional sound guy to check things out.
Big things are on the horizon for the girls… Make sure you check back often so you can follow them on their journey!
